A new online platform AfriLeaks.org has been launched with the aim to help expose power abuse and corruption in Africa, by linking whistle-blowers to journalists.
Basically, Afrileaks provides a secure environment to anonymously submit documents on their website. These documents are however not published, but are instead given to a journalist of one of the partner African news organization which try to verify the submitted information.
The partner “afriLeaks Receiver Newsrooms” include:
- 100 Reporters
- The Daily Monitor
- Mail & Guardian
- Botswana Guardian
- Mmegi
- Oxpeckers
- Premium Times
- Tiger Eye PI
- Verdade

Behind AfriLeaks is the African Network of Centers for Investigative Reporting (ANCIR) and the Italy-based Hermes Center for Transparency and Digital Human Rights.
