The other day, I was looking at some of the Google search terms used by visitors to this site and noted one of them was “free antivirus for Uganda”. It is good to know there are quite a number of good, free antivirus programs for your PC and for EVERYONE :). Whereas you get good software, like Norton or McFee, several tests show there are some good free programs you can get for private, home use, without having to part with some hard-earned bucks. One of these and my favorite is Avast! Free Antivirus offered by Avast.com. It is easy to install. You only need to make a free registration to get a license for one year, which you will be reminded to renew.
After the installation process, you automatically have a license for 1 month, which should be prolonged to year, via the “registration” link, which comes up. If not, you can register later or check on the registration status by right-clicking the Avast icon near the clock in task bar & select => Registration information. You will be offered the free & paid versions, but select the free version, which appears to have few features but is sufficient for most people for home PCs.
Avast automatically checks for updates when you turn the PC on. It assumes you have an internet connection … Download link: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_free.exe (link is external). Or simply look for the download link for the FREE version at www.avast.com (link is external).
