Ever since I came across CDBurnerXP a few years ago, it’s been the software of choice I use for burning CDs/DVDs, even if I have always had Nero and access to other similar software. I also always recommend it to other folks.
The reason is, it’s free, easy to install, easy to use & takes little space. This is what the manufacturer says:
CDBurnerXP is a free application to burn CDs and DVDs, including Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. It also includes the feature to burn and create ISOs, as well as a multilanguage interface. Everyone, even companies, can use it for free. It does not include adware or similar malicious components.
It is available for the following Operating Systems: Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista/2008/Win7 (x86 / x64/Win 8.1 – I use it on such a system)
Whereas the new versions of Nero, like version 9 & 10 Multimedia Suites (ca. $80) are better & have lots of tools, they take between 2 & 3 GB of space if you install all the tools they have and old PCs may be incompatible. There are lots of free alternatives to the other components in those Nero or other burning software suites.
Get CDBurnerXP
Get the latest version of and learn more about CDBurnerXP fromhttp://cdburnerxp.se/en/download (ca. 5MB). To install CDBurnerXP, Microsoft .Net Framework is required. If it’s not detected, you will be told to first install it & a download link will be suggested. Otherwise get it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/net/download. The newest version is .NET Framework 4, though some older PC systems might “prefer” older versions which can also be accessed. After that, the installation takes just a short time. A portable version, which can be installed & run from a flash/USB drive is also available.
