Rosenmontag (Rose Monday) is the highlight of the German Karneval” and is on the Shrove Monday before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.
For your information: Freiburg is small but beautiful town at the edge of the Black Forest, in South Western Germany.
Population: ca 230,000, a good fraction of which are students.
The Martinstor (English Martin’s Gate), a former town fortification on Kaiser-Joseph-Straße, is the older of the two gates of Freiburg im Breisgau that have been preserved since medieval times, the other being the Schwabentor.
